Tuesday

  • Your appointment with a Doctor is for ten minutes.  This is usually adequate for one problem only.  If you have more than one problem, in order to deal with it comprehensively you may well be asked to book a further consultation.  This is also a courtesy for other patients to try and ensure surgeries do not run late.

  • PLEASE REMEMBER TO CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND.  WE CAN THEN OFFER THAT APPOINTMENT TO ANOTHER PATIENT.

  • TELEPHONE ADVICE  If you wish to speak to a Doctor on the telephone, ask the Receptionist who will take the relevant details and arrange a telephone appointment.  If it is not urgent the appointment may not be for the same day.

Home Visits

Please remember that a Doctor can see up to six patients in surgery in the time that it takes to do one home visit.  Patients can also be examined much more thoroughly in a surgery environment.  If you feel you are unable to attend the surgery because of illness, please contact the surgery before 10.30 am.  Urgent calls may be made at any time.  To enable the Doctor to assess the urgency of the visit, please give the receptionist as much information as possible.  We would ask that patients only request home visits for those who CANNOT possibly get to the surgery because of illness.  If the problem is one of lack of transport please arrange for a friend, relative or taxi to bring you to the surgery.

During surgery hours an emergency is a medical problem that needs attention within 30 minutes.  After hours it is a medical problem that cannot wait until the surgery opens.
